The week
What it is, who it's for, and how the days feel.
What is this, in a sentence?
Five nights at Holos, a jungle retreat center in Costa Rica's Diamante Valley, with a small group led by Mackie and Juliet of UltraLife. We have the whole property to ourselves.
Who is it for?
People who like to move and want a week that resets them. You don't need to be an athlete. Every session can be scaled up or down, and skipping one for a nap is allowed.
What does a day look like?
The days are built around four things: movement, energy healing, time in nature, and deep rest. A typical day:
- Morning movement or yoga
- A slow breakfast
- A guided hike to one of the waterfalls on the property
- Open afternoons for rest, the sauna, or recovery
- Dinner together and an evening gathering
You'll get the full day-by-day schedule when you sign up.
Who leads it?
Mackie and Juliet, the founders of UltraLife. Mackie has coached people for about 20 years, and Juliet teaches yoga. Antoine Lebecque, a practitioner who lives in the Diamante Valley, joins us too. Every guest gets a private session with him, included in the price.
Where you'll stay
Tents, beds, bathrooms, and food.
Where do I sleep?
In a glamping tent with a real bed, lighting, and power outlets. Everyone gets their own bed. Most tents have two queen beds, so you share a tent but never a bed.
Coming with a friend or partner? You'll share with them. Coming solo? We'll talk with you ahead of time about who you're rooming with. Nobody gets a surprise tentmate.
What are the bathrooms like?
Shared bath houses with hot water. No tent has its own bathroom, including the private ones.
Can I get a private tent?
There are only a few, so ask us and we'll tell you what's available and the cost.
What's the food like?
Farm to table, and every meal is included. Tell us about allergies or preferences on the application and the kitchen will plan around them.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, in the main area at Holos, though you may find you use it less than you expect. Cell service on the property depends on your carrier, so plan on the Wi-Fi if someone needs to reach you.
Cost and payments
What's included, and how paying works.
What does it cost, and what's included?
$3,550 per person. That covers:
- Five nights at Holos
- All meals
- All programming, including guided waterfall hikes
- Your private session with Antoine
- Gratuity for the Holos staff and local taxes
Not included: flights, ground transport from San José, and travel insurance.
How do payments work?
A $500 deposit holds your spot. It counts toward your total and is non-refundable. The rest is split into two payments, due October 1 and December 8, and we invoice you before each one.
If you join after October 1, your deposit and first payment are due together when you book. If you join after December 8, the full amount is due when you book.
What if my plans change?
Cancel before November 9, 2026 and we refund everything you've paid beyond the deposit. On or after November 9 we can't refund.
You can always pass your spot to someone else, with our approval, up to two weeks before the retreat. We'd rather see your spot go to someone you know than sit empty.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Travel insurance is required for all of our trips. Make sure yours covers trip cancellation and emergency evacuation. We'll ask for your insurer and policy number in January.
Getting there
Flights, timing, and the drive in.
Where do I fly into?
San José (SJO). Plan to arrive at Holos by the evening of Saturday, February 7, the day we start.
How do I get from the airport to Holos?
It's about four hours by car, or a short charter flight. We'll help you arrange either one and coordinate with other guests arriving around the same time.
How big is the group?
Small. We cap it at 24 guests so everyone gets real time with us and with each other.
Did a friend send you this? Write their name in the "Who referred you?" box on the application and we'll take $100 off your total.
